This program allows you to combine your studies with practical experience in your chosen specialisation; Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine and Offshore Engineering. Working under the supervision of professional engineers, the program allows you to evaluate your career choice and gain industry experience. You will alternate periods of full time study with periods of full time paid work experience but you must maintain a credit average throughout your degree to remain in the program.
Professional accreditation

Engineers Australia, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and the international Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).

Graduate career opportunities

Offshore oil and gas industry, shore-based maritime, marine and related industries such as alternative energy, marine survey, statutory bodies, military, industrial process and power generation sectors. Engineering consultancy firms specialising in coastal engineering, underwater vehicles, survey, shipbuilding and port and harbour design. Design and build of all marine vessels. Port and harbour authorities.

Work-based learning available as part of the course

Course duration consists of four years’ study and one year of paid work placements.
