Headmasters Academy is a holistic creative education provider that aims to foster collaboration across the student body and better reflect the realities of working in the creative sector. It is our internal philosophy that no creative stands alone and everything we do is focused around ensuring our alumni are career ready the day they graduate, complete with a little black book of contacts to match.

Whether youā€™re a fashion designer, make-up artist, hair stylist or beauty therapist, in industry you are constantly required to work with others in a collaborative and supportive environment. Headmasters fosters this perspective from the first day of class through consistent cross-pollination across the four departments of fashion, hair, beauty and makeup.

Students are required to work across departments on internal and industry-based projects, building their network as they progress through their course. A strong focus on real world applicable skills coupled with a holistic approach to creative education makes sure our students stand out from the crowd.

Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising

This FashionMasters Certificate IV course will give you a strong foundation on which to base your entry into the designing, manufacturing, illustration or business areas of the fashion industry. The course is industry based, teaching industrial methods used by clothing companies, fashion designers and fashion artists in Australia today. This is an ideal course for aspiring designers and fashion illustrators. Develop the ability to prepare a comprehensive design folio comprising fashion drawings, story boards and trade sketches as well as samples of the finished garments. Emphasis is placed on the development of individual skills by means of a varied and comprehensive teaching program. Class sizes are limited ensuring you receive individual guidance on a one-to-one basis as required. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the Industry Liaison program offered which enables you to gain industry experience.

Diploma of Beauty Therapy

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy aims at producing professionals in the beauty, makeup, and massage therapy industries. Areas covered include: manicures, pedicures, makeup, advanced facials, aromatherapy, body and massage treatments, lash/brow treatments and waxing. Combining management and business skills, the course is an ideal starting point towards a professional career in beauty. Graduates can expect to provide beauty services in salons, resorts, cruise ships, day spas or in their own salon. Students learn advanced techniques in waxing, nails and massage, to cutting edge new services such as microdermabrasion, LED therapies and injectables. Job opportunities include: Skin Therapists, Nail Technicians, Beauty Bloggers, Business Owners, Beauty Trainers, Massage Therapists and Makeup Educators. Educators are practising professionals providing training that is current and industry based. Class sizes are kept to a minimum to ensure one-on-one time, giving students tailored training.

Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising

The Diploma is a two year course that builds studentsā€™ skills and understanding of fashion trends and industry practices. Offering the opportunity for students to expand their creative design skills and develop expertise in specialised garment making techniques. Studentsā€™ understanding of the fashion industry is enhanced through the study of the commercial and business aspects of fashion, whilst their visual communication skills are developed through the study of computer aided design software.The Advanced Diploma is delivered over three years. Students in the course develop their creative design ideas and garment creation skills, whilst gaining a clear understanding of where their skills fit within the fashion industry. The Advanced Diploma allows students to develop their personal voice as a fashion designer, further their commercial fashion sense and produce a signature collection. The culmination of this course is the public presentation of the graduate runway collections.

Certificate IV in Hairdressing

The Certificate III offers students the competitive edge to succeed in the hairdressing industry. From hair styling and design, to colour and lightening services, haircutting and chemical straightening. This comprehensive course prepares students for this fast-paced industry.The Certificate IV enhances the knowledge and skills of studentsĀ who have completed the Certificate III. Advanced techniques including hair extensions, complex colour techniques and corrections, designing and applying makeup for photography, advanced hair styling techniques plus management and leadership skills are explored. Successful completion of theĀ Certificate III in Hairdressing and 1 year full time salon experience is required for entry into the Certificate IV.Courses are delivered in a professional, open plan training room setting and in the HeadMasters operated salon off-campus. Students will also gain hands on professional experience using the latest technologies.

Diploma of Salon Management

The Diploma of Salon Management combines broad industry knowledge and skills to manage, run or start up a hair/beauty salon. Through theoretical and practical core skills, this qualification will give you an advantage over existing manager/owners to manage a salon/small-medium sized business, start your own salon, or become a company director or an executive manager for a product company. You will have skills to build your business, manage sales and service delivery of the salon, lead, support and lead a team, develop and implement marketing strategies. Students will gain "real" management experience at our own Headmasters Salon. Learning modes include workshops, written work, group discussions, role plays, written and oral tests, presentations, debates and site visits of commercial operations. Educators are practising professionals providing training that is current and industry-based. Class sizes are kept to a minimum to ensure one-on-one time, giving students tailored training.

Diploma of Screen and Media

The Diploma of Screen and Media is designed for those seeking a professional career in makeup. This course covers all services required by a professional make-up artist in the make-up industry. It includes designing and applying makeup and special effects makeup, hair styling, hair extension, wig styling and application, plus the business and management skills and knowledge required to launch into a successful career in make-up and hair for TV/film, photography, special effects, theatre or on a freelance basis. Educators are practising professionals who work in the makeup industry, providing training to students which is current and industry based. Class sizes are kept to a minimum to ensure one-on-one time, giving students tailored training. Students also have the opportunity to take part in the Creative Team, which allows them to participate in industry events, gaining hands-on experience whilst building their portfolio and networking skills.
