Established in 1982 by John Martin Cass, JMC Academy was originally founded in Sydney to meet the demand for qualified professionals in the entertainment technology industry. From day one, JMC Academy broke ground as Australia's first private college to qualify for accreditation in the fields of Audio Engineering, Digital Television and Digital Multimedia.

Celebrating over 35 years in education, JMC Academy continues to lead the way in creative industries education, offering Degrees and Diplomas in Music, Songwriting, Audio Engineering, Film and Television Production, Entertainment Business Management, Digital Design, 3D Animation and Game Design.

Internships are the perfect opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and learn how the industry really operates. At JMC we have a dedicated Internship Program which provides students the opportunity to work in real-life industry roles at reputable organisations  including MTV, Universal Music Australia, Foxtel, Austereo Network (FOX FM), Kiss FM, Animal Logic, Seven Network and Channel 10, during their course. Our Internship Program to date has successfully also led to paid freelance opportunities and to career progression post-graduation.

With a global network spanning across Japan, Los Angeles, The Netherlands, London and more, JMC Academy students have the opportunity to participate in a number of global study and exchange programs. From Animation and Design tours in Japan, Entertainment Management exchange programs and International Writers Camps in the Netherlands, Music Exchanges in London or study programs and studio tours with our partner film school in LA.

As a Global Partner of the esteemed Berklee College of Music, and with connections to APRA AMCOS, JMC is a natural launchpad into the entertainment industry for musicians and performers alike.

Digital Design at JMC provides you with the tools and skills you need to create innovative solutions in an ever-evolving world of interactive media. You’ll discover the true power of visual communication and storytelling, learn the processes behind creative problem solving, and explore ways to create better experiences for people in physical, digital and virtual spaces.The Design course equips you with a deep understanding of core design principles, the design thinking process, and the technical skills required for you to apply what you’ve learned across a variety of platforms and media. Bachelor of Creative Arts (3D Animation)

Bringing a character to life involves more than just technical ability. With that in mind, Animation at JMC has been developed in association with studio professionals from Pixar and Animal Logic, and is born of a love affair between technology, creativity and science. Underpinned by a strong understanding of design, filmmaking and compelling storytelling, this course introduces you to the art and practice of animation. Learn to design and develop characters and worlds – from concept to finished art – and create arresting graphical motion and believable character performances. We’ll make sure you are up to speed on all the latest developments demanded by the industry, you'll have a chance to intern, network and study abroad along the way. You'll graduate with a top notch portfolio, a showreel, and knowledge of who’s who where it counts, ready to launch into the industry.

The world just can’t get enough of the magic of the moving image, and the global uptake of digital technology is creating unprecedented demand for professional content creators. From producers to directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, motion-graphics designers, editors and more, entertainment production is big business.Film + TV at JMC is a hands-on production-based course that will give you the knowledge and the creative, technical and managerial skills to create and produce leading content for film, TV, live broadcasts, documentaries, commercials and music videos.Both Bachelor degree and diploma are structured to help you develop above-the-line practitioners in key crew roles (which will appeal if you’re into serious filmmaking), as well as the range of skills you need to meet the diverse requirements of the industry.

Contemporary Music Performance at JMC is about more than just nailing your performance. It is about creating an understanding of how to arrange and compose music, mastering the tech you will use in the industry, and promoting yourself to be heard, loud and proud.Learn about the business aspects of contemporary music and how to identify professional opportunities. Bachelor of Creative Technology (Audio Engineering and Sound Production)

This practical course will give you a solid understanding of digital audio workstations and analogue consoles, as well as how to operate live sound equipment. Explore software-based synths with an emphasis on editing, arranging and mixing, and master microphones, mixing desks and signal processors, and record, overdub and mix a band in the studio.Put your technical skills into practice by collaborating with other students recording a band, or overdubbing instruments to a multi-track recorder, and gain a real headstart securing your dream audio job.Explore acoustic design, audio electronics and music production and how this can be applied to mixed media such as TV, film and games. Game Development at JMC feeds this drive, providing the skills and knowledge to create fully immersive digital environments. Learn how to design, develop and implement an idea, with emphasis on creativity and expression through concept creation, digital drawing, environment modelling and game-engine implementation.Get hands-on expertise in leading industry software like Maya and the Unity game engine, and use our 18-camera leading precision motion-capture suites and VR facilities to create interactive game prototypes and quality game assets, and graduate with the skills demanded by leading developers.
